Our story

Join us on a journey through the life and career of Sako Hanno, a master craftsman driven by a lifelong passion for creating exquisite fine jewellery.

Time-honoured Tradition

At the age of 15, Sako already knew his passion lay in the art of making jewellery. Seeking summer work in the local jewellery quarter, he embarked on an apprenticeship to learn not only how to make jewellery, but how to to do so using time-honoured, traditional techniques. Here he mastered the delicate art of setting precious stones using minimal tools and meticulous skill–the same tools and skill used to set diamonds in the seventeenth century jewellery that captivated him in museums.

Belief in a Craft

Full of enthusiasm and a burning desire to further his craft, Sako moved to London at the age of 19. Armed with a few precious rings crafted to showcase his skills, he knocked on the doors of the capital’s finest jewellers. His talent, enthusiasm and bravado were rewarded with an expanded knowledge and set of skills.

A Contemporary Artisan

Sako travelled from Europe to Canada, working with jewellers to continually refine his skills. Working with some of the biggest jewellery brands, he crafted jewellery for a clientele that included royalty and celebrities, using his unique skill-set of both traditional and contemporary techniques to create unique one-of-a-kind pieces.

Working with love

Love brought Sako to Vännäs in northern Sweden. Hundreds of miles away from bustling big cities and the high-end jewellery brands he worked with, he set up a small workshop in his home. Producing luxurious pieces in such an unlikely location and with such skill, he became somewhat of a novelty among the Vännäs locals, with many visiting his studio to watch him work and admire his elaborate designs.

Hanno Stockholm is born

Outgrowing his tiny studio in the northern reaches of Sweden, Sako moved to Stockholm in 2005. Here he established his workshop on Artillerigatan 33, bringing his artisanal skills and design expertise acquired over an impressive career in fine jewellery to bespoke engagement rings and wedding rings.

Craftsmanship with Honesty

Working under his own name, Sako is meticulous when it comes to quality, materials, and service - willing only to apply the Hanno name to pieces that have passed through his hands and meet his exacting standards. You can be assured of the quality of all pieces created in his Stockholm atelier. But what Hanno also stands for is honesty, integrity and value. There is no hard sell; no pressure–merely a genuine desire to craft a beautiful ring that exceeds your expectations.
